Regional patients needing rehabilitation will benefit from a new ward at Albury Wodonga Private Hospital on the New South Wales-Victoria border.
The latest step in the twin-city hospital's multi-million-dollar redevelopment, the new area features a purpose-built rehabilitation ward with 15 private in-patient rooms and a dedicated gym.
The gym features state-of-the-art Tyro-motion robotic rehabilitation equipment.
Albury Wodonga Private Hospital CEO Paul Boje said the service would provide personalised care for local patients recovering from injury or illness.
"We're thrilled to be opening our new rehabilitation space and expanding the services Albury Wodonga Private Hospital can offer the local community," he said.
"The new in-patient rehabilitation service will provide personalised treatment plans designed to help patients achieve greater functional independence and improve their quality of life."
Mr Boje said the new ward would embrace a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare, with patients supported by a team of dedicated nursing and allied health staff.
"Patients on the rehabilitation ward will have access to our experienced team of healthcare professionals including rehab nurses, occupational therapists, physios, dietitians and mental health professionals," he said.
"Our goal is to provide all patients with the highest quality of care and support."
Based on the northern side of the Murray River on the state border, Albury Wodonga Private Hospital was established in 1979 with just one ward and 35 beds.
As part of the Ramsay Health Care group, it has grown to become the region's largest private facility with 96 beds, seven operating theatres, a day surgery unit and a mental health wellness centre.
"I am extremely proud that now our patients can access rehabilitation services on site, to begin their recovery journey," Mr Boje said.
"Our aim is to help patients regain their independence and get back to their homes and loved ones as quickly and safely as possible."
