Cura Day Hospitals Group has completed its acquisition of PresMed, consolidating its position as the largest operator of private short-stay facilities in Australia.
Cura now has 36 hospitals nationwide, with the addition of PreMed's seven sites across New South Wales, Canberra and Tasmania.
Cura Day Hospitals Group CEO Peter Freeleagus, who is also PresMed's Chairperson, expressed his gratitude to the doctors and staff for their support and assistance throughout the process following the announcement of a binding offer in late October 2024.
"We extend a very warm welcome to all the PresMed doctors and staff who will be joining our group and look forward to working together to continue to deliver exceptional, patient-centred care," he said.
"Both PresMed and Cura share a deep commitment to providing the highest standards of patient care and remain dedicated to maintaining open communication with our patients, doctors, and employees throughout this transition."
Mr Freeleagus was a co-founder of Cura in 2008, leaving the group in 2020 before returning to his previous role as CEO in June 2024 following its acquisition by Intermediate Capital Group (ICG).
Formed in 1997, PresMed specialises in the establishment and management of surgical day hospitals in partnership with surgeons.
