Western Hospital Senior Consultant Intensive Care Medicine, Dr Milind Sanap wants to make sure the new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) does well in its first year and is also dedicated to planning a holiday for his family.
What do you love about your job? And why?
What I love about the job is making patients better. When they come in they are quite sick and when they leave they are much better and in a much better position. That’s what I love about the job.
How long have you been working in your current role?
I have been with the Western Hospital since they opened the new ICU in January this year.
I’ve been working in this field for over 10 years and have been a doctor for 20 years.
What is something interesting about you your colleagues don’t know?
My colleagues know a lot about me, so there isn’t much that they don’t already know.
How do your friends describe you?
My friends describe me as full of energy and easy to get along with.
What do you do in your spare time/any hobbies?
I play tennis and I like going to the gym as well. To relax I like watching movies with the family, my wife and two kids, they keep me busy.
With school holidays approaching, any plans for a family holiday?
Yes but not these school holidays, but the ones later in the year around September we are planning on going to London. I’ve been a couple of times and it’s a fantastic place to visit every time.
What is something you want to achieve this year?
My personal goal is that I want to dedicate more time to being more fit and healthy.
My professional goal is to continue to work hard at The Western Hospital especially with the new ICU, I really want it to do well. The best thing about the Western Hospital ICU is that a lot of people are still excited about the new ICU and they all really care for patients and that is their first priority.
