• Jodie Duncan – Cura Day Hospitals Group

Financial accountant Jodie Duncan, 51, has worked in various roles at Cura Day Hospitals for the past seven years, based at head office in Brisbane, along with two years at the group's Perth Eye Hospital in Western Australia.

What’s the best part about your job?

Definitely the people I work with – you spend so much of your waking hours at work, it needs to be with people you enjoy being around!

What is something about your job that not many people know about, and what would surprise other people about working in a private hospital?

The importance of not making changes in a closed accounting period.

What do you love about working in a private hospital?

I loved the close-knit team environment and interacting with both nursing and support services staff during my time at Perth Eye Hospital. It was very satisfying to know our hospital made a real difference to our patients’ quality of life.

What do you like to do outside of work and/or what is something your colleagues don’t know about you?

I have competed twice in the Busselton Jetty swim and placed third in my age group the last time I swam. I am also a very proud first-time Grandma to a gorgeous baby girl.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Life is too short, so don’t sweat the small stuff.
