Western Private launches PVC recycling project

Western Private Hospital has recently embarked on a journey to reduce its environmental impact

Western Private Hospital is trying to reduce its environmental impact to help creates a safer, healthier environment for the community to thrive in for generations to come.

One of Western Private’s first projects, PVC recycling, has safety and quality implications. Many IV fluid bags used in hospitals contain a plastic called PVC, which cannot be recycled with other normal plastics. Not wanting to send this waste to landfill where it would consume valuable space and potentially leach into the water table, Western Private has implemented a waste management system to recycle it. They have also made a video as an educational tool to improve learning and understanding of the correct procedures and to motivate staff to follow the procedure.
