Thriving, not just surviving, after cancer

Martial arts master Glenn Coxon is about to attempt to beat his own world record for smashing through wooden boards with his bare hands.

Only last year it seemed like his karate career was well and truly over when he was diagnosed with potentially deadly neck cancer.

But Glenn's surgeon, Dr Sydney Ch'ng from Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, was a former black belt herself and she was determined to give him the best possible chance to take another crack at his record.

Lesley Robinson followed the preparations for the big day in this special report for ABC's 7.30.
