Cancer patients have backed Sydney Adventist Hospital (the San) as one of the leading care providers in New South Wales for the second year in a row.
The San Integrated Cancer Centre has achieved top results in the state's Outpatient Cancer Clinics Survey since opening in 2016.
It led the feedback for patient experience in 2017, and is now celebrating the latest results after being matched by only one other hospital across the key performance measures for 2018.
“This is a heart-warming endorsement of how we really do cherish our role in caring for cancer patients during these difficult times in their lives when they are most vulnerable,” San CEO Brett Goods said.
“To match the state’s other top-rated facility and achieve a significantly higher rating than so many other cancer services across many other areas of patient experience is a validation of our overall mission to showcase Christianity in Action in every patient interaction,” he added.
Mark Middleton, Chief Executive Officer of Icon Group (owner of the Icon Radiation Oncology service at the San), Australia’s largest dedicated cancer care provider, said the Group are thrilled to have achieved this prestigious accolade for the second time.

More than 11,000 cancer patients at 44 facilities were surveyed for the 2018 survey by the Bureau of Health Information and Cancer Institute NSW.
As well as rating significantly above the state average in the eight key measures – with scores ranging from 92-99 percent – San's clinic also listed highly in another 38 performance areas.
“It’s a credit to all the teams involved,” said the private, not-for-profit hospital's clinical director of cancer services, Associate Professor Gavin Marx.
"From the hospitality staff who take pride in maintaining the physical environment, our reception staff who do a tremendous job in supporting all our patients, all our expert clinicians involved in the management, care and treatment of our patients, the nurses, pharmacists, allied health staff and through to all other wonderful staff who provide support services.”
