Private hospital wins mental health award

Sunshine Coast Private Hospital’s Cooinda Mental Health Service in Buderim has been honoured at the 2017 Queensland Mental Health Week Achievement Awards, winning the Not-for-profit category.

General Manager, Wallis Westbrook said the award recognises the Cooinda Mental Health Service team’s hard work to improve the lives of the Sunshine Coast community.

“Mental health is one of the major health issues currently facing Australians and extends to our Sunshine Coast community. Through the Cooinda Mental Health Service, we will continue to support people living with mental illness.

“Our mission at the Cooinda Mental Health Service is to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and their families by combining best practice treatment programs and community outreach while continually striving to expand and develop new programs and initiatives that respond to the needs of individuals and our community,” said Mr Westbrook.

The Queensland Mental Health Week Achievement Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of individuals, groups and organisations working to reduce the stigma around mental health while supporting and empowering those living with mental illness.
