Parents at Sunnybank Private Hospital will now experience new levels of luxury care, thanks to recent upgrades to the hospital’s maternity ward.
Part of a $40 million redevelopment at the hospital, the maternity upgrades will see Sunnybank private patients enjoying stylish, boutique rooms, a range of pre and postnatal classes and high quality care throughout their pregnancy.
Maternity manager Ann Brosnan, said the hospital prided itself on providing exceptional maternity services throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond.
“With modern rooms, added services and luxury extras, our new-look maternity ward complements the high-quality midwifery and obstetric care that we have delivered for decades.
“Our end-to-end service includes childbirth education classes, early bird physiotherapy classes, and antenatal, intrapartum and post-natal care.
“We have also introduced CPR and First Aid classes for new parents, providing parents with the knowledge and skills to recognise and respond to their sick or injured child with confidence,” said Ms Brosnan.
Interior designer Jenni Parsons said the new suites were created to ensure patients feel safe and nurtured during their stay, with boutique timber finishes, sheer curtains and plenty of natural light.
A select number of rooms have been fitted with king-sized beds and overlook the landscaped gardens, with more than half the rooms enjoying direct access to the maternity courtyards.
“We wanted to create a space that mothers would walk into and think ‘this is where I want to have my baby,’” said Ms Parsons.
“The placement of furnishings was considered during the planning stages to ensure good Feng Shui and create a peaceful, nurturing space.”
In addition to the new facilities, Sunnybank Private has also entered into a partnership with Belmont Private Hospital, to offer mental health services to new mums.
“With the incidence of postnatal depression increasing in our community, we are very excited to be establishing a relationship with Belmont Private Hospital – Queensland’s only private mental health facility with a dedicated mother and baby service. It will see a Belmont liaison nurse visit Mums at Sunnybank Private, providing supporting during the sometimes difficult transition to parenthood,” said Ms Brosnan.
The major redevelopment project at Sunnybank Private Hospital also includes new theatres, a cardiac catheterisation laboratory and refurbished wards.
