A new intensive care unit (ICU) is now open in western Adelaide which will provide care closer to home for the community.
The Western Hospital ICU opened in early January, providing 24 hour service.
ICU Clinical Manager, Jacquie Wilhelm said the feedback from the community, staff, patients and visitors has been extremely positive.
“I enjoy the look on patients and visitors faces when they come along and see the ICU – the unit is so modern and fresh.
“The atmosphere of pride and excitement is palpable throughout the whole hospital. The state of the art facilities and equipment is testament to the commitment the hospital has invested and for its future viability,” said Ms Wilhelm.
The Western Hospital is the only private hospital ICU in the western suburbs of Adelaide and will now allow patients to stay at the one hospital instead of being transferred to another hospital further away from home.
“Western Hospital now provides a vast selection of services and specialities in one location minimising inconvenience,” said Ms Wilhelm.
