People in Adelaide’s north-eastern suburbs will no longer have to travel into the city for day-surgery procedures, following the opening of a new world-class facility.
Windsor Gardens Day Surgery, aims to provide an easily-accessible modern treatment space for both patients and surgeons.
It features three operating theatres, with spacious recovery areas, and can accommodate a wide range of specialties.
“The day surgery is brand new and conveniently located – if you live in the north-east, there’s no need to travel all the way into the city,” said Annette Nelson, general manager and director of nursing at the state-of-the-art facility.
“In fact, many of our patients already see their specialist in the consulting rooms at the 480 Specialist Centre, so our location is very familiar to them. There’s plenty of free parking, other onsite providers such as pathology, and an onsite café opening soon,” she added.
Managed by Vision Eye Institute, Windsor Gardens is one of the first facilities to be accredited with the latest health and safety standards, the NSQHS Standards (second edition) by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care, Ms Nelson said, and it is designed for patient comfort.
”It’s quite an inviting space and doesn’t feel as clinical as many other day surgeries do,” she said. “Patients are catered for with modern and quiet spaces, private admission rooms, free WiFi and spacious recovery areas with views of the Adelaide Hills.”
Backed by experienced administrative and clinical support teams, surgeons can offer services including ophthalmology, gastroenterology, colorectal surgery, plastic surgery, general surgery and dermatology.
“Surgeons with rooms at the 480 Specialist Centre recognise the benefits for their patients and have already organised theatre sessions with us,” Ms Nelson said.
