Joondalup set to add more mental health beds

Joondalup Health Campus is set to add 10 more mental health beds after the West Australian state government announced it would spend $8.6 billion on healthcare in 2016-17.

The Ramsay Health Care hospital will be handed $7.1 million to set up the new mental health observation area, according to the state budget released earlier this month.

The investment will raise the hospital’s mental health bed capacity to 57 beds, adding to its existing inpatient treatment service.

The government plans to invest a total of $865 million in the state’s mental health services.
