Athletes injured while playing or training can now get fast-tracked treatment at a Queensland private hospital.
Greenslopes Private Hospital’s new sports injury service helps injured sports players, from a recognised sports club or school, by providing them with a clinical assessment, initial treatment, imaging and a referral to a specialist if needed, all in their Emergency Centre.
Emergency Centre Director, Dr Mark Baldwin said the move is a win for patients who will receive streamlined specialised care from experienced doctors and nurses.
“We wanted to make it even easier for patients to access high quality treatment for their sports injuries.
“Greenslopes Private Hospital is in an ideal position to offer this integrated service with access to radiology and pathology facilities right here on site.
“The benefit of having a wide range of highly trained and skilled specialists all in one place is that we can cater for all types of injuries, from the head to the foot,” said Dr Baldwin.
Eligible patients accessing the sports injury service can receive a reduced out-of-pocket fee of $75 after the Medicare rebate.
