Epworth Medical Imaging (EMI) has marked the opening of its newest facility at Epworth Richmond with an official celebration.
The multi-million dollar facility has been operating within the Epworth Richmond hospital since September, but it wasn’t officially opened until this week.
The event was attended by staff, board members, partners and doctors. Attendees were given a tour of the new facility.
Epworth HealthCare chief executive Alan Kinkade congratulated everyone on the success of the launch.
“The opening of Epworth Medical Imaging Richmond demonstrates the commitment, planning and cooperation of a dedicated team and their managers,” Mr Kinkade said.
“[This group] excitedly and seamlessly transferred a large radiography service in-house, after the stroke of midnight on 24 September. It also demonstrated Epworth as a team with people in various divisions doing extraordinary things to make this transition a success.”
The EMI service caters for inpatients and emergency department admissions around the clock.
Patients have access to the latest technology in MRI, CT, ultrasound, x-rays and body composition scanning. A range of diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures are also offered.
In addition to Richmond, the service is offered at Epworth’s Freemasons, Freemasons Medical Centre and Camberwell campuses.
The service will expand again next year when Epworth Geelong opens in mid-2016.
Epworth Medical Imaging is a partnership between Epworth HealthCare and Sonic Healthcare.
