$50m upgrade brings new Adelaide services

Adelaide residents now have access to significantly more services with the opening of St Andrew’s Hospital's new development.

The Eastern Clinical Development, officially opened recently by the Governor of South Australia, Hieu Van Le, offers a range of new services says St Andrew’s CEO Stephen Walker.

“The new build offers state-of-the-art angiography functionality, additional theatres and procedural areas that have the latest technology,” he said.

The $50 million development is a new procedural unit made up of three endoscopy suites, two angiography suites and two operating theatres. Alongside these are a 35-bed recovery unit, a state-of-the-art 28-bed cardiac unit, a 200-bay underground carpark and a staff gymnasium.

The project supported South Australian businesses, which have also been recognised – the new building was shortlisted in the European Healthcare Design Awards, and architects Wiltshire & Swain received a highly commended award.

St Andrew’s is one of Australia’s largest independent private hospitals, providing a comprehensive range of surgical and medical services, and treating more than 30,000 patients each year.
